It is common for technicians to get replaced by other technicians in the film industry. This usually happens in the case of music directors and cinematographers. This has now happened to talented music composer Mickey J Meyer, not once but twice.
Going into the story, Mickey had been sidelined for two projects back to back.
The first is Project K. He was first roped in to compose the music for the film. But after a while, he was replaced by Santosh Narayanan, of Dasara fame. Santosh is currently working on the film in Mickey’s place.
Then comes Selfish, a film featuring Dil Raju’s nephew Ashish Reddy in the lead role. Mickey was first roped in for the film. He reportedly composed a couple of songs as well. But he was then replaced.
It is said that the unit felt the Dhoolpet mass atmospheric of the film needs a more massy touch composer. They then onboarded Anup Rubens, it seems.
Mickey J Meyer is known for quality work, but he happened to have been replaced in two films, with one of them – Project K being a pan Indian biggie. He’s already in search for the big break to make it to the mainstream segment of music directors, and sadly for him, he has started to lose out on interesting projects.
