The supernatural thriller space on OTT witnessed a game-changing moment when Naga Chaitanya’s Dhootha arrived on Amazon Prime Video. Combining eerie storytelling, psychological tension, and an engaging mystery, the series became an instant favorite among viewers and established itself as one of the most successful streaming originals from the Telugu industry.
The show opened a new chapter in Naga Chaitanya’s career, presenting him in a never-seen-before character. His performance as a man trapped in a disturbing chain of supernatural events earned massive praise from audiences and critics alike. As the series traveled across languages and regions, its popularity continued to grow, eventually finding a strong fan base in several international markets as well.
Riding on the phenomenal success of the first season, the makers have now unveiled the sequel- Dhootha 2. The project was launched with a traditional puja ceremony attended by several prominent guests from the industry. Nagarjuna Akkineni inaugurated the venture by giving the ceremonial clap and handing over the script to the team.
Apart from leading the cast once again, Naga Chaitanya is also taking on production responsibilities for the first time within the franchise. The new season will be jointly backed by Annapurna Studios and NorthStar Entertainment Pvt. Ltd., while creator-director Vikram K Kumar returns to steer the narrative into darker and more unpredictable territory.
The sequel is being planned on a much grander canvas with a stronger psychological core, bigger mysteries, and a deeper exploration of the supernatural forces that shaped the original story. The makers are aiming to expand the world of Dhootha while retaining the suspense and intrigue that made the first season a sensation.
Parvathy Thiruvothu and Priya Bhavani Shankar are set to play pivotal roles.
