Jalagam Venkat Rao, the then Congress Chief Minister allocated 22 acres of land in Banjara Hills to ANR for the purpose of building a film studio.
The land was secured at a nominal price of ₹7,500–8,000 per acre, totaling approximately ₹1.5–1.8 lakh for the entire plot.

The studio till date become a landmark for film shootings and post-production works.
Meanwhile, Superstar Krishna who was very close to Congress Party and even contested on the party ticket also wanted one.
Krishna was given 9.5 acres of land in Shaikpet Mandal in 1982 at a price of ₹8,500 per acre by the then Anjaiah Government.
It was a big controversy back then because the market price of the land at that time was approximately ₹5 lakh per acre. Also, the 9.5 Acres land was supposed to be strictly used for film purposes only but the owners soon sold 5.3 acres to third parties. Currently, the studio stands on just about 4 acres.
As far as NTR is concerned, when ANR was given land in Banjara Hills, NTR applied for land. He sought a land parcel near Sanjeevaiah Park.
But the then Government rejected it. NTR suspected that it was because of Political Motives and vowed not to take any land from the Government.
He did not allot any land even when he became the Chief Minister.
NTR constructed Ramakrishna Cine Studios near RTC X Roads. The Studio started with the shooting of Dana Veera Sura Karna and Tamil Legend MGR attended the inauguration ceremony.
But then, slowly the area became a commercial hub and it was a small studio. The expansion became difficult due to the unavailability of land there.
NTR constructed a bigger studio in Nacharam. It was called Ramakrishna Horticultural Cine Studio and has permanent sets that are suitable for shooting mythological films. Both these studios, however, housed only the film shoots of NTR and Balakrishna.
When NTR floated the Telugu Desam Party, the studio doubled as his meeting place as well. In fact, NTR announced entry into Politics and the name of the party in this studio itself.
After 2000, the studios did not house any film shootings. In the last few years, there were a couple of film openings of Balakrishna in the studios.
