Star producer Dil Raju is venturing into Tamil cinema with Thalapathy Vijay’s Varisu(Varasudu in Telugu). He is pinning high hopes on the film which is lined up for release during next Sankranti season.
But as per the latest reports, it isn’t going to be a smooth landing for Raju in the Tamil market as Varisu will be facing a formidable challenge in Ajith’s Thunivu which is also releasing the next Sankranthi.
As per reports, the makers of Thunivu will announce the release date in accordance with the Varasudu announcement. The day Varasudu announces its release date, Thunivu will also announce the very same release date.
The reason behind it is that the makers of Thunivu don’t want to give Varasudu the advantage of getting away with more screens right from opening day. If both films release on the same day, the theater sharing will be straightforward and there can be no last-minute changes.
In that case, Varisu’s opening day tally in Tamil Nadu will take a beating due to a direct clash with Thunivu.
Things aren’t too bright in Telugu either as the likes of Waltair Veerayya, Adipurush, Veera Simha Reddy, and Agent are announced for Sankranthi release. Getting good screens here is not going to be an easy task either. So, Dil Raju is evidently facing a new headache in the context of next Sankranthi.
