No South Star, No Pan-India Film?

Actor YashFor the past few days, there have been rumors that Kannada superstar Yash had been approached to play the powerful role of Ravanasura in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayan starring Ranbir Kapoor as Ram and Alia Bhatt as Sita. But according to the latest reports, Yash has turned down the offer as he doesn’t want to do roles with negative shades at this point in his career.

Producer Madhu Mantena is planning the retelling of the epic Ramayana in a huge way with hundreds of crores of budget. The film needs to have a pan-India Superstar from the South. Ranbir and Alia won’t be enough to rake in huge numbers from all the areas in the country, especially in the South. So, in a way, if there is no South star, there is no pan-India film as far as Ramayana is concerned.

Yash has turned down the offer. The other superstar who suits the role of Raavan is Prabhas, but he has already done Adipurush. So he is ruled out. NTR would be perfect in the role of Raavan, as we have seen him in Jai Lava Kusa. But it is doubtful that he will accept such a role as a villain opposite Ranbir at this stage of his career. Allu Arjun may or may not be suitable to play Ravanasura.

Even if the makers have to cast a Bollywood superstar in the role of Raavana, SRK, Salman, and Aamir Khan would definitely stay away from the film as they have seen what Saif had to face during Adipurush. Hrithik might be a good choice, but there are reports that he has rejected the film.

It is going to be a very challenging task for the makers to cast someone in the role of Raavana, who must be a tremendous actor and also must have stardom to pull in audiences from all over the country. As of now, the prospects of Bollywood Ramayana already look bleak and dark.
