There are only a few more hours left for Prabhas’ devotional magnum opus, Adipurush’s release. The advance bookings are earth-shattering, to say the least. Such bookings were expected in Telugu states, but the film is all set to take an opening of 25-30 crore on the first day in the Hindi version, which was completely unexpected.
After the teaser got negative reviews, many in the Bollywood trade were expecting that the film would take an opening of less than ten crores in Hindi version. But the decent trailer and goosebumps-worthy songs revived hopes, but even then, no one expected that the film would take a blinder at the box office, especially in the Hindi version.
Prabhas’ stardom and Lord Rama’s goodwill among the audience have ensured that the film is all set to take one of the biggest openings in Indian cinema post-pandemic.
However, there is also a flip side. A large section of the audience is expecting to see a SS Rajamouli kinda visual spectacle in Adipurush. But Adipurush is mostly an animated live-action film. It has to be seen what will be the response when the regular audience discovers that Adipurush isn’t what they were expecting.
If the animation part is impressive and doesn’t look too cartoonish, and the story is told in a gripping way that touches the devotional angle inside all of us, then the sky is the limit for Adipurush.
