Piracy brings unity between AP and Telangana

USA-TOLLYWOOD-PIRACY

Post the bifurcation of the state into two, there has been visible shift in the way things are being handled at the film organization and bodies situated in Hyderabad. Every day one hears some association or some people complaining about not having rights or getting the required rights to them post the bifurcation. But even under this environment if there is one thing that is uniting the two bodies then it’s the menace of Piracy.

Piracy as we know is the biggest threat the industry is facing and even the producers and its various associations and bodies too recognize the same. Because no matter which state one belongs to eventually piracy effects the business and therefore results in severe loss of money. It is for this piracy issue an Anti-piracy cell has been started in Hyderabad and it is this body which has remained unaffected of all the things that are going on now.

This Anti-piracy cell is working round the clock in deleting the pirated content online. The most recent work of them can be seen on the film Drishyam, which they have successfully taken down. With lack of availability of piracy the run of the film is effected in a positive way. Sensing the kind of work this anti-piracy cell has been doing for some time now, a team from US had recently met them to share their knowledge to them. Piracy is a common enemy and they too want to fight in its curbing and hence the meet.

In the meeting which continued over three days many issues related to piracy were discussed. Identification of source of piracy and educating the people regarding its prevention has been main agenda. Taking the recent Drishyam example, forensic tests were being done on its pirated material to identify the location of the piracy. It would be later used not only to capture the pirate but also educate the employees of the property where the piracy was done. It is an ongoing exercise and many people will be educated, says the head of Anti-piracy cell.

It is surely good to hear that there is still one thing that unites both the regions. One wishes this unity spills onto other aspect as well which would help the industry flourish instead of suffering.
