Summer takes a toll on AP’s Power Supply

power cuts in andhra pradeshWith summer setting early, the Power demand in Andhra Pradesh has increased suddenly. The demand is being very more from morning to afternoon. As a result, agriculture power is being supplied only in the evenings. There is a demand of 135 MU on March 1st and it has gone up to 146 MU on Saturday. Officials are expecting it to go up till 158 MU by the end of this month.

In the event of increasing demand, the state government has increased purchases from outside sources. But technical issues are occurring randomly in all the projects of the state some time or other hampering the 24X7 power supply.

Krishnapatnam first unit is not producing power due to no coal linkage. Chandrababu is working on clearing these problems and when the unit begins operating, AP will get 15MU more every day. On the other side, with Center cleared the gas swapping in KG Basin, AP will be able to produce 208 MW power. So AP officials are expecting the power woes to be cleared very soon.
