The makers of Prabhas’ Fauzi have officially announced that the film will premiere on December 2 and release worldwide on December 3, 2026.
Apart from the intense first-look poster, another factor has caught the attention of trade circles: the release date itself. Over the last few years, the first week of December has become the most successful release window for Indian cinema.
2023 – Animal became Ranbir’s biggest blockbuster.
2024 – Pushpa 2 rewrote Indian box-office records and established Allu Arjun as Pan India Star.
2025 – Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar emerged as one of Bollywood’s biggest-ever blockbusters, rewriting the rules of Indian cinema.
2026 – Now, Fauzi hopes to continue that remarkable streak.
December has gradually become the home of India’s biggest event films. The Christmas holidays and the New Year season give successful films a long runway at the box office. Animal, Pushpa 2, and Dhurandhar all enjoyed relatively clean release windows, allowing them to build momentum without facing immediate competition from other major releases.
For Prabhas, the timing couldn’t be more important. After The Raja Saab flopped badly, Fauzi carries enormous responsibility. Directed by Hanu Raghavapudi, the period action drama is expected to present a completely different side of Prabhas, balancing action, romance, patriotism, and emotion.
But this December will be far more challenging.
As things stand, Ajay Devgn’s Ranger and Akshay Kumar’s remake of Sankrantiki Vastunnam, directed by Anees Bazmee, are both scheduled to release on December 4, just a day after Fauzi. Within the next two weeks, Avengers: Doomsday and Dune: Part Three are also expected to arrive, taking away IMAX and premium screens across India and overseas.
Unlike the previous December blockbusters, Fauzi may have to fight for screens and audiences almost from the beginning. The competition will be intense, leaving very little room for error.
Of course, release dates alone don’t create blockbusters. Ultimately, content decides everything. But if Fauzi delivers the emotional and cinematic experience fans are expecting and still manages to extend December’s incredible blockbuster streak despite such stiff competition, its achievement could be even more remarkable than that of the films that came before it.
