PVR ScreenIT Scam

A few days back the PVR Inox app introduced a new feature called ScreenIT that allows users to create a show for themselves from an available catalog or join an already created screening.

But now the feature is getting exposed as a big Scam. Reportedly, a Hyderabad show for ‘There Will Be Blood’ was called off after PVR Inox tried to play a Blu-ray version of the movie. This is wrong on so many levels and even unethical.

Another incident happened where an user created a show and it did not reach the minimum audience threshold and was therefore cancelled. The app had previously promised full refund but after the cancellation, they kept a portion of the money as cancellation fee.

It is outrageous because cancellation fee is paid by the one party that does the cancelling, not the other way round. This is outright stealing and audiences are very angry at this.

PVR Inox had a reduction in the footfalls from fresh releases and so found out a way to bring audiences back with the re-releases.

But stealing money from users by making promises of creating shows of their own choices will not prove to be very good for their business. Also, chain like PVR Inox using Blu-ray DVDs to play a movie will turn to be very consequential in future.
