Recently music maestro AR Rehman was issued a Fatwa for composing music for ‘Muhammad: Messenger of God’, the film which is an Iranian biopic. Islam fundamentalists opine that the film is like a mockery of their religion and hence considers all those who worked in the team had to undergo ‘Kalma’ (a religious ritual to purify).

But, Rehman refused to budge and gave a very sensible explanation for working on the film and also clarified his stand as a part traditional and part rationalist Muslim. But since he was under threat because of the Fatwa, he couldn’t attend the musical evening organized by T Series, the most reputed music company commemorating it’s 30 years.
Rehman informed the same and also wrote a written apology to the music company boss Bhushan Kumar for failing to attend the event which he had agreed to earlier. Rehman didn’t want to create any hindrance to the show because of his presence on who the Fatwa is lingering.
