It has become increasingly common for a few non-mainstream Telugu actors and directors to cry foul on reviews and ratings. They make a crappy product and then start crying on media, saying the weak reviews are killing entire cinema industry.
There is this one actor named VJ Sunny who recently made a film named Unstoppable. The film was a disaster at the box office.
At an event today, Sunny started coming down heavily on media, saying reviewers aren’t even qualified to comment about films.
“If you know(reviewers and critics) so much about films, why don’t you come with a story, convenience a producer, wield the camera and make a film. Not one of these critics know even how to switch on a camera. They know lesser than a production boy about cinema but they come every week to rate our hard work” he said.
Sunny’s comment is evidently being lambasted by all sections of netizens.
“Veedu restaurant ki pothe kullipoyina food pettali, baaledhu anagane polam dhunni natlu vesi kalupu peeki ani monologue start chesi bayataki pampali” a netizen replied to a video of Sunny’s hate speech on critics.
A media person wrote “maybe it’s time for actors also to work in a media house to know our pain. Even expressing one’s views is being deemed negative these days”,
It has become common for people to make crappy products that are bound to be outrightly rejected by the audience and then comes the cover up story and crying where they say reviews killed their film.
If one makes a good quality film, it will be lapped up by audience. If anything, reviews are the ones that being added exposure to the film apart from the obvious word of mouth. Crying foul on the same prospect after making a crappy film just shows one’s inability and incompetence.
