Settlement issues to stall UV’s May Day Release?

Kamal Haasan uttama villian high courtRight after the audio launch event of ‘Uttama Villain’, Kamal Haasan’s movie slowly started sailing in troubled waters with the film getting delayed and also reeling into controversies due to some religious outfits objections and protest for ban on the film. Admists delay and the protests, finally ‘Uttama Villain’ was scheduled for May Day release.

When it seemed all is well for the film’s release, one Thangaraj, a movie producer and distributor sought a petition seeking stalling the release of film on May 1. According to Thangaraj, he helped ‘Uttama Villain’ with finances of Rs.2.2 crores and had entered into an agreement with Thirupathi Brothers to provide him the distribution rights of the film for an area.

Later, Eros International came into the scene and bought the distribution rights of the film. For which, Thangaraj says he has been cheated and sought stalling the release of UV. When the petition came for hearing, Thirupathi brothers agreed to settle the amount to Thangaraj and hence the court posted the case to a later date in April. Since the production house agreed to pay the dues, the film may go for May Day release once the deal is settled between the two parties.
