shankar-should-scrap-indian-3

Filmmaker Shankar recently spoke about the delays in Indian 2 and the challenges he faced while working on multiple projects.

After Game Changer’s negative reception, Shankar addressed the reasons behind the hold-up of Indian 2.

He explained that issues like actor availability and shoot cancellations threw off the film’s schedule, making it harder to wrap up.

Unlike his usual pace of completing films in about a year and a half, Indian 2 took much longer due to these setbacks.

To keep things moving, Shankar shifted his focus to finishing Game Changer while waiting for the right time to restart Indian 2.

Shankar also mentioned that Indian 3 is on the way and should be ready within six months, with a lot of VFX work and a few scenes still pending.

But production can’t start until some issues with Lyca Productions are sorted out and Kamal Haasan returns from the USA. Once everything falls into place, Indian 3 will be underway.

This means the film is unlikely to hit theaters in 2025, and its release date remains uncertain. Also, it needs another 100 crores minimum to finish the film. Will Lyca spend more on a film that looks doomed from the start?

As for Game Changer, Shankar is not bothered by the negative reviews but admitted that he wasn’t completely happy with the final version.

The film, originally five hours long, was heavily edited, leaving several important scenes out.

Will Indian 3 be Shankar’s big comeback? As of now, the way things are going, it seems doubtful.

It would be better if Shankar scraps Indian 3, takes some time off, thinks and analyzes what’s been going wrong for the last many years, comes up with a fresh and kickass bound script, and then starts shooting it.

We can’t see Shankar becoming another Ram Gopal Varma.
