Legendary filmmaker Singeetham Sreenivasa Rao has made more experimental films than almost anyone else in Indian cinema, and at 94, he is bringing his dream project to life. Sing Geetham is set for release on June 11th, and today, the team released its first song, Hello Bossuu, a track that was deleted from the film and will not appear in the final cut for reasons not disclosed.
Producer Nag Ashwin, who attended the song launch event, stated that the track was removed solely because Singeetham Sreenivasa Rao wanted it that way. “This is a very special occasion. We’re releasing a deleted song, and it has come out really well. Singeetham tried something new and made a fun film. He always thinks differently. He and the entire team worked hard to bring one of his long-held dreams to life. After Jaathi Rathnaalu, this is the film I am producing.
We made this for Singeetham as an expression of gratitude. He has been trying to make this project since before Pushpak. He even pitched it to Kamal Haasan, but it didn’t work out. I can’t reveal more now, but after the film releases, we might add the song later.”
It’s clear that the team is going for a creatively bold promotional strategy, and releasing a deleted song as the first single speaks volumes about that approach.
