Star producer Dil Raju, on multiple occasions in the past, spoke against direct box office clashes between two big ticket films. In fact, he is said to be the one who averted the same-day release clash between Sarileru Neekevvaru and Ala Vaikunthapurramulo by preponing the former.
Now, Dil Raju has invited criticism on social media with his latest announcement on Varasudu release date.
Later last night, Dil Raju announced that Varasudu will be releasing in theaters on the 11th of January. This came just hours after another big league Tamil film, Thunivu announced 11th January as its release date.
In this context, netizens are calling out Dil Raju. “Dil Raju once used to say no two big films should release on the same day as both of them would be losing box office revenues. Now, he has pitted his Varasudu against its Tamil counterpart Thunivu. He only sets the rules, but he doesn’t follow them.” A netizen commented.
Notably, Raju, through Tollywood Producers Guild, has previously advocated the need to avoid same-day release clashes. But now, he has acted against his own interests and is facing criticism on social media for the same.
