Spirit: Prabhas’ Payback to People Media for Raja Saab?

Spirit Karnataka distribution rights deal

People Media Factory, the banner behind Prabhas’ The Raja Saab, has officially announced that it has acquired the Karnataka theatrical distribution rights for Spirit in association with Asian Suresh Entertainment.

Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, Spirit is one of the biggest pan-India films currently in production. Recently, Sandeep Vanga revealed that more than 40% of the shoot has been completed. The film stars Prabhas as a powerful police officer, while Triptii Dimri plays the female lead. It is scheduled for a worldwide release on March 5, 2027.

The announcement has also sparked discussion in trade circles for another reason.

People Media Factory’s previous collaboration with Prabhas, The Raja Saab, turned out to be a massive setback. Mounted on a reported budget of around Rs. 400 crores, the horror-comedy failed both critically and commercially, reportedly resulting in heavy losses for the production house.

Against that backdrop, the Spirit distribution deal has caught everyone’s attention.

Many in the trade believe the agreement could be part of a larger understanding between Prabhas and People Media Factory following The Raja Saab. While there is no official confirmation, industry observers speculate that giving the banner the distribution rights for a high-potential film like Spirit could help it recover some of the losses suffered on The Raja Saab.

Spirit marks the first-ever collaboration between Prabhas and Sandeep Reddy Vanga, a combination that has already generated enormous excitement. Many expect it to be one of the biggest blockbusters of 2027, making its distribution rights highly valuable.

Whether the deal is purely a business decision or part of a broader understanding between the actor and the production house remains unknown. But one thing is clear: if Spirit lives up to its massive expectations, the film could prove beneficial not just for Prabhas and its producers, but also for People Media Factory after the epic disappointment of The Raja Saab.
