Following the back-to-back failures of Parasakthi and Ustaad Bhagat Singh, actress Sreeleela is currently playing a crucial role in an untitled Bollywood film directed by Anurag Basu, as well as in Dhanush’s Om, directed by Rajkumar Periyasamy.
Although Sreeleela enjoys a huge fan following for her dance performances, she has yet to make a strong impact with her acting, and none of her films in recent years have emerged as successful ventures.
Meanwhile, Sreeleela was the original choice for the recently released film Lenin, but due to call sheet issues, she opted out of the project and actress Bhagyashri Borse replaced her. Following Lenin’s success, many people on social media are trolling Sreeleela, claiming that the film became successful only because she left the project. Some are even saying that if she had played the female lead instead of Bhagyashri Borse, the film would have ended up as a failure.
Amid these trolls, Sreeleela recently participated in a shop opening ceremony, and the pictures and videos from the event went viral on social media. Reacting to those visuals, many users commented that Sreeleela looked uncomfortable and that it was evident something was not right.
Many posts also pointed out that she now appears to be seen more at shop openings than in movies.
Some users further remarked that the roles Sreeleela has been doing lately tend to irritate audiences the moment she appears on screen, adding that she needs a major career restart. Just like Samantha found a career revival with Maa Inti Bangaaram and Akhil Akkineni bounced back with Lenin, Sreeleela too is in desperate need of a strong comeback film.
As a result, many believe Sreeleela now needs a breakthrough to revive her career.
Ultimately, it remains to be seen how Sreeleela shapes her lineup from here and whether Om, directed by Rajkumar Periyasamy, will emerge as a successful venture and provide the much-needed relief her career is currently seeking.
