The promotions for Srinivasa Mangapuram are in full swing. Directed by Ajay Bhupathi, the film marks the acting debut of Jaya Krishna Ghattamaneni, nephew of Mahesh Babu, while Rasha Thadani, daughter of Raveena Tandon, is also making her Telugu debut. The romantic action drama is scheduled to release on July 30.
But surprisingly, social media isn’t talking much about the teaser, songs, or story. Instead, it is talking about Jaya Krishna’s dance step.
At almost every promotional event, Jaya Krishna has been performing the same signature step from one of the film’s songs. While the intention was probably to make the hook step popular, it has now become the subject of harmless trolling online.
One user joked, “Looks like he learned only one dance step.”
Others are editing different hit songs over the same dance move, while several meme pages have started using the clip to create funny videos. The step has now become more recognizable than the actual promotional content.
Thankfully, most of the trolling is light-hearted, with even some Mahesh Babu fans joining in for fun.
The irony is that Srinivasa Mangapuram actually has quite a few things going for it. It is Ajay Bhupathi’s next film after Mangalavaaram, introduces two star kids from well-known film families, and features Mohan Babu as the main villain. The teaser and songs have also generated some curiosity.
Yet, one repeated dance move has ended up dominating the conversation. Whether this turns into free publicity or becomes a distraction remains to be seen after the film’s release.
