A highly anticipated Pan-India film starring a top hero is reportedly turning into a massive financial headache for its producers. The film was launched with huge expectations, but repeated production breaks have pushed the shoot far behind schedule. Shockingly, around 80 days of shooting is still reportedly pending despite the project being in production for a long time. It is currently scheduled for release in the summer of 2027.
The biggest concern is the budget. The film has reportedly reached nearly twice its original estimate. With the investment continuing to rise, the producers are said to have already given up hope of making a profit from the project.
Interestingly, there is reportedly no single person to blame. Major decisions were apparently taken collectively by the team, making the situation the result of several choices rather than one individual’s mistake.
The producers are now said to be looking at the project purely from a recovery perspective. Even if the film gets a massive release and emerges as a Pan-India success, recovering the entire investment and entering the profit zone could still be extremely difficult.
The director’s previous Pan-India film with a bigger hero was expected to cross Rs. 1,000 crores worldwide but reportedly ended below Rs. 600 crores. That experience has also made the producers even more cautious this time. So, instead of dreaming about profits, the focus is reportedly on completing the film, releasing it and minimizing the losses.
But then comes the most interesting twist.
The same director, who showed no urgency towards one of his upcoming sequels, has suddenly started taking the sequel very seriously. A team has apparently been assembled, and pre-production work has already begun. Why the sudden change?
Perhaps the director knows where his safest bet lies. When the current project is becoming increasingly expensive and unpredictable, returning to an established franchise makes perfect business sense. It almost looks like the director is preparing his escape route before the current film even reaches theatres.
The big question now is whether this expensive Pan-India gamble can recover its massive investment or whether the sequel will ultimately become the director’s real safety net.
