Sukumar is one of the most revered directors in Telugu cinema despite his dodgy track record at the box office. His out of the box themes with superb technical values are the reason for this. When a director of the calibre of Rajamouli goes to extra length to shower praise on him, it clearly shows the kind of high esteem he is held in.
But the trade sees none of it and all they care about is the box office numbers and that is where the director has been lacking consistency. And this lack of consistency means it is getting hard for the director to work with top heroes. Post the debacle of 1 Nenokkadine it was hoped that he would be doing a film with Jr NTR. The director confirmed this too but now after some time has passed and the actor has lined up a busy schedule for him, the director is at cross roads again.
It is now being heard that the director may do a small film in the time being to prove his box office mettle once again before making a film with top hero. Number of names are being heard for this small film but the latest to join the list is an interesting one. It is none other than Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas. If the actor is indeed finalized it would be a dream come true for him for sure. A final confirmation is still awaited though.
