Superstars Getting Wasted: Is It Right?

Of late, it has become a common tradition for Telugu filmmakers to bring in other language stars for their pan Indian films. The was seen in the case of Pushpa and Salaar where Fahadh Faasil and Prithviraj Sukumaran respectively were brought in for these two films. Now, there are reports that Prithviraj is onboard for Mahesh-Rajamouli film.

Incidentally, the native Mallu audience has now started a new narrative on social media by saying that the potential of their superstars is getting wasted as they are getting typecasted.

They are saying that Mallu stars are being casted in Telugu films only for certain template roles which don’t have scope for a acting nd in accordance, their stars are having to spend a lot of time on these projects.

The primary argument from the Mallu folk is that the acting prowess of their stars is getting wasted in these films and they should stay away from the same.

While this argument might be true, considering the two mentioned stars are brilliant performers and they might not have shown their best yet in Telugu, there is the other side of the story as well.

An elite league actor can’t only focus on acting-oriented roles and ignore commercial highs. They need to expand their markets to bigger scales and there is no better way to do it than working in Telugu films which is the leading industry these days.

Though Fahadh and Prithviraj are already popular, the penetration of Pushpa and Salaar only further enhanced their reach and box office image. This could eventually open up new avenues for them. Else, the stars themselves wouldn’t be picking up these films.
