While Telugu films have been going great guns at the box office every now and again, there was a major disappointment to Telugu fans in the newly announced National Film Awards.
In an ungainly development, Telugu films grossly missed out at the National Awards that are being announced now.
Tollywood has a long list of nominations including Writer Padmabhushan, Seetha Ramam, Ante Sundaraniki, Karthikeya 2, Tillu 2, Sarkaru Vaari Paata, DJ Tillu, Virata Parvam and others.
Many expected the critically acclaimed and box office proven Seetha Ramam to gain glory at the National Awards but it wasn’t to be. At a time when Telugu cinema is firing, many expected a Telugu film to win the national award for best film, but we are served nothing but disappointment yet again.
As for the Best Telugu Film award, this was bagged by Karthikeya 2. Kannada’s Rishabh Shetty rightly won the best actor in leading role award for Kantara. The Best actress award went to Nithya Menon for Thiru.
