Mega Prince Varun Tej’s latest sensation Korean Kanakaraju is running successfully in theatres in its second week, and the movie is already enjoying profits. The team, meanwhile, celebrated the blockbuster success with an event in Vizag, with Cinematography Minister Kandula Durgesh gracing the occasion as the chief guest.
Calling Vizag wonderful and beautiful, Merlapaka Gandhi thanked the audience for embracing Korean Kanakaraju. The director was all praise for Varun Tej’s performance, particularly the way he handled both the Kanakaraju character and the Korean gangster role. Gandhi said Varun completely owned both characters and delivered them with impressive conviction. He also expressed his eagerness to collaborate with Varun again.
Varun Tej said the Vizag celebrations were special because of his long-standing relationship with the city. He highlighted the collective effort behind the film, saying that the success of a movie is never the result of one actor or director alone. He thanked everyone who contributed to the project.
His appreciation for Gandhi was particularly heartfelt. “Right from the beginning, we worked not like a director and hero, but like friends. I believe that relationship is also one of the reasons why the film has become successful like this. It has been a great journey. I wish to work again with him.”
The actor thanked UV Creations and First Frame Entertainments for backing their vision and supporting the project. He also acknowledged music director Thaman. He recalled asking the composer for something special rather than trying to match the energy of OG. Varun said Thaman delivered brilliantly and described him as a major pillar of the film.
In a playful reference, Varun Tej called Satya his girlfriend and then boyfriend before praising his dedication. He said Satya wanted to be part of a good film, entertain audiences, and worked extremely hard to achieve that goal.
He admitted that the past few years had brought moments of uncertainty. “For the last seven years, because things were not going well for me in cinema, there was always a small amount of sadness inside me. Sometimes I had self-doubt—whether things would work out, whether I could do it again, whether I would be able to score another hit. I want to especially thank my wife, Lavanya, who believed in me more than I believed in myself. I can never thank her enough. She has always been with me as my support system.”
Varun Tej recalled the advice he had received from Chiranjeevi, Nagababu and Pawan Kalyan. “From the beginning, my Peddananna, my Babai and my Nanna have always told me the same thing: ‘Don’t get distracted. If you sincerely continue doing the work you believe in, success will definitely come someday.’ They have always brought me up by giving me such good advice. Thank you, Peddananna, Babai and Nanna.”
He also stated that they have plans to make a sequel to the project if they get a good script.
