Height has become a brand new obsession in Tollywood lately. The word used to describe a 6 feet tall person is ‘Aaradugula’ which is a colloquial term in Telugu. The word has become a catch phrase among lyricists and is being used in several Telugu songs. The songs that display the height obsession include chartbusters like ‘Aaradugula bulletu…’ from the film ‘Attarintiki Daredi’ starring Pawan Kalyan and ‘Aaradugula andagadu nannu Barbie girl annadu’ from Mirchi.
Actors like Prabhas and Mahesh Babu are very often described by that word in songs and are called ‘Aarudgula’ for at least one time in their films. ‘Aaraduguluntada Yedaduglesthada’ phrase was used by the popular lyricist Anantha Sriram in another song describing actor Mahesh Babu in SVSC. The excuse for this obsession is stated by director Chandra Siddharth where he mentioned that it is done only to please the fans.
