In recent times, repeated news of deaths in the film industry has been deeply unsettling. Before people could come to terms with earlier losses, Tollywood was hit by another tragedy.
Senior Telugu actor Raghunatha Reddy passed away suddenly due to a heart attack. He was around 72 and had been dealing with health issues for some time. What makes the loss even more painful is that his son Sudhakar had died of a heart attack just a month earlier. Those close to the family believe the emotional shock of losing his son took a severe toll on Raghunatha Reddy’s health.
A native of Vijayawada, Raghunatha Reddy was known for his sharp and intense villain roles. He acted in more than 370 films, building a long and respected career in Telugu cinema. His clear dialogue delivery and ability to play cunning antagonists made him instantly recognizable. Though competition reduced his opportunities in later years, he remained a familiar face. His last notable appearance was in Sumanth’s Subrahmanyapuram.
He began his film journey in 1991 with Sarpayagam, directed by the Paruchuri Brothers and starring Sobhan Babu. Raghunatha Reddy is survived by his wife Annapurna and three children.
His passing has left the Telugu film industry in mourning. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones.
