The Tollywood box office will see three interesting new theatrical releases this weekend and they are Skanda, Chandramukhi 2, and Pedda Kapu – 1.
Firstly Skanda is the most notable release of the three and it marks the coming together of Ram, Boyapati Sreenu and happening beauty Sree Leela.
Commercial potboilers always have a solid market. If Boyapati can deliver the goods with this film, Skanda could go on a merry run at the ticket counters. He will be looking to keep the Akhanda momentum going with this Ram starrer now. The film is releasing tomorrow, 28 August.
Then, there’s Chandramukhi 2 which is releasing tomorrow. This film is a sequel to the blockbuster Chandramukhi and this will work in its advantage.
Lawrence has the knack of delivering winning horror comedies and he is looking to keep the streak going with Chandramukhi 2. The sequel advantage can only come to effect if word of mouth is good for the film. Needless to say, Telugu audience are always receptive to good horror comedies.
Then there’s Pedda Kapu – 1 which is releasing on the 29 September. This film is an intense social drama and it is directed by Srikanth Addala. This genre is rather unexpected from him but he seems fairly confident about his work for this film.
For content-driven films with relatively unknown cast like these, word of mouth is everything. The onus is on Srikanth Addala to deliver.
There is a long weekend advantage weekend with Oct 2 holiday on Monday. If they can gain a good word of mouth, then the box office prospects are very bright.
