Despite, the first ODI was originally scheduled to be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. The BCCI has now changed the venue following a request from the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA).

The board said the decision was taken because of possible weather disruption and proposed renovation work at the stadium.

The change means Virat Kohli will not get an opportunity to play at his home ground during the upcoming series.

Kohli started his domestic cricket career with Delhi and represented the state team before making his international debut.

The Arun Jaitley Stadium, formerly known as Feroz Shah Kotla, is the ground where he played much of his early cricket.

The 38 year old Virat Kohli has already retired from Test and T20I cricket and now plays only ODIs for India. He has also said that the 2027 ODI World Cup will be his last World Cup.

India’s currently announced schedule does not include another ODI in Delhi before the 2027 World Cup.

The team is scheduled to play three ODIs against Zimbabwe in January 2027, with Mumbai, Kolkata and Hyderabad hosting the matches.

India’s schedule for the remaining months before the World Cup is yet to be announced. Therefore, it is not certain when Kohli will get another chance to play an international match in Delhi.

The second ODI against Sri Lanka will be played at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on December 16. Kohli could get an opportunity to play at the ground, which is also the home venue of his IPL team, Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

The third ODI will take place in Ahmedabad on December 19. With the first ODI moved out of Delhi, fans will have to wait for another opportunity to watch Kohli play an international match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
