A shocking development around Pawan Kalyan’s Ustaad Bhagat Singh has sparked discussion in Tollywood. The film, directed by Harish Shankar, is produced by Mythri Movie Makers. Recently, the makers confirmed that Thaman has been brought in to handle the entire background score instead of the film’s music composer Devi Sri Prasad.
The team officially stated that the change happened mainly due to scheduling constraints. The film has been preponed to release on March 19. Because of the tight timeline, the producers needed a composer who could deliver the background score quickly. Thaman is known in the industry for his speed and ability to finish large projects in a short time.
This development has triggered strong reactions from fans online. Some fans argue that Devi Sri Prasad excels at composing songs but believe Thaman delivers stronger background scores. Many feel DSP often reuses the music of his songs in the film and presents it as BGM, whereas Thaman composes fresh themes specifically for the background score.
For films like Daaku Maharaaj and OG, Thaman’s BGM elevated even ordinary scenes. Others, however, question the explanation given by the makers because director Harish Shankar had recently praised DSP’s background score in a discussion event.
This is not the first time tensions have appeared between Devi Sri Prasad and Mythri Movie Makers. During Pushpa: The Rule, the team also brought in multiple composers such as Sam C. S. and Thaman to work on portions of the background score, even though DSP was the main composer. That situation reportedly upset him at the time.
Now, with another Mythri project making a similar move, speculation about a cold war between the banner and DSP has intensified.
Composing background music is not a small task. Usually, composers work from the script stage and build themes that connect deeply with the characters and story. In this case, Thaman must quickly understand the narrative, compose music that fits the already completed sections, and ensure the film’s dramatic moments, especially in a commercial entertainer, are elevated properly.
