Fresh Legal Case: Another Big Headache for Karthi’s Film?

Karthi in Vaa Vaathiyaar film

Karthi’s long pending project Vaa Vaathiyaar, directed by Nalan Kumarasamy, has faced multiple postponements due to financial troubles. The film is now scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on January 14th. This announcement has revived interest among fans.

With Vijay’s Jana Nayagan postponed, the Pongal holiday window has opened up space for more releases. Two to three films can now comfortably arrive during the festive period. Several medium budget Kollywood films are advancing their release dates.

Earlier, after a High Court interim stay, many believed Vaa Vaathiyaar would move to February. The Pongal slots were expected to be locked by Jana Nayagan and Parasakthi. After Jana Nayagan’s delay, Vaa Vaathiyaar officially entered the Pongal race.

Fresh trouble has now surfaced for the film. Sources say a Karur based firm, Dhanesh Associates, has filed a new legal case against Studio Green. The plea seeks to stop the film’s release until a pending loan amount is cleared.

Kollywood trackers, however, claim the disputed amount is only one lakh. They suggest the issue can be resolved quickly by the production house. If true, this case may not pose a major hurdle for the release.

A bigger concern remains the earlier legal case filed by an investor against Studio Green. That matter carries more weight and needs settlement. If Studio Green resolves it, Vaa Vaathiyaar is expected to release this Pongal.

Meanwhile, Sivakarthikeyan’s Parasakthi is seeing mixed responses and average bookings in many centres. Trackers believe a positive reception for Vaa Vaathiyaar on January 14th could help it dominate the Pongal weekend.

Still, uncertainty remains around financial clearances. It remains to be seen whether all issues are resolved in time. The film’s box office fate will depend on its smooth release and audience response.
