The vintage combination of Trivikram and Victory Venkatesh got off on the wrong foot with AK47: Aadarsha Kutumbam. Despite the names involved, the buzz was surprisingly very low, and the promotional material failed to generate the expected excitement.
The first song was a passable number, while the second drew considerable criticism for its lyrics. Movie lovers expected better from this combination, and the postponements did little to help.
At this point, the trailer released yesterday has brought a much-needed positive turn. The response on social media has also been largely positive, suggesting that the film has finally given audiences something to look forward to.
This should come as a relief for Trivikram. With someone like Venkatesh, who has a strong pull among family audiences, the lack of excitement until the trailer release was hardly encouraging. The trailer has now helped change that perception.
Adding to the interest, Trivikram Srinivas described the film as a mix of dark comedy and crime comedy, something he is trying for the first time. That raises hopes that AK47 will offer something beyond a routine family entertainer.
However, Thaman’s work continues to draw criticism. Even among those who liked the trailer, his music appears to be the most common complaint.
With the trailer working, excitement is finally building around this much-awaited combination. If the film is even as decent as the trailer suggests, Venkatesh’s pull should take care of the rest.
For now, AK47 has gained some much-needed momentum. The team needs to carry it through to the theatrical release and follow it up with positive talk.
