In 2021, Suniel Narang was upset with the OTT companies selecting September 10th as the streaming date for Tuck Jagadish and Maestro clashing with the release date of his film Love Story.
Telangana film chamber called for a press meet opposing Tuck Jagadish’s OTT release happening on the same day as Love Story’s Theater release. A sulking Suniel Narang appealed to the producers of Tuck Jagadish to change the release date of OTT.
Even after that Narang has always appealed to producers and the audience to save theaters.
And coming to Suneil Narang’s latest film Mama Mascheendra which was released this Friday turned out to be an epic disaster. According to the latest reports, the film is going to start streaming on Prime Video on October 20th, which means just within two weeks of its theatrical release.
Not only that, the OTT release date announcement comes at a time when the film has just been released, and some people might be still booking tickets to watch it in theaters.
So what happened to the ‘save theaters’ slogan which has always been the motto of Suneil Narang? He himself is destroying the theater business by announcing the OTT release of his film when the film has not even completed its first-weekend run in theaters.
He is not only the film chamber president but Suneil Narang has also been in the theater business also since many decades. Covid has died down completely and theaters are fully back into business.
Then why is Suneil Narang releasing his film on OTT within two weeks and also making a date announcement when the film has just been released? The ticket-buying public will definitely think twice before buying tickets to watch Mama Mascheendra in theaters as it will anyhow come on OTT in 10-12 days.
Is Suneil Narang ji himself not killing the theater business and setting a wrong example?
