Vishwaroopam was one of the most ambitious films of Kamal Haasan made at a huge budget. When the time to release came there were all sorts of controversy and drama with the film being stopped and then have a censored release later. Finally after all that the happy news was that the film fared well at the box office and even more happy news for the fans was the sequel of the film Vishwaroopam 2 unveiled by Kamal Haasan at the end.
The sequel news took many by surprise when it was announced that half of it was already complete even before the release of Vishwaroopam. Soon the film completed the rest and it was expected to release in the last quarter of 2013 for Diwali, then Christmas and later moved to Pongal and that was the least we have heard about the movie. Ever since that the film has been completely off radar with Kamal Haasan moving onto his next film.
So what has happened to Vishwaroopam 2? Many rumors are floating like the film has been postponed indefinitely due to certain unresolved elements, which could lead to big controversy, with censor board or a new movie rights deal that is opposed by overseas distributors and so on. Whatever may be the reason ultimately it’s the film and fans that are getting punished with the delay and one is hoping that these issues resolve soon. But the way things are going on at the moment it looks highly unlikely that the film could hit screens before Kamal Haasan’s next Uthama Villain hits the theaters.
