After a long wait of more than 17 months post-KGF, Yash is all set to venture into a new project. He has reportedly joined forces with acclaimed female director Geethu Mohandas for ‘Yash 19.’
This heavy-content action film set in the backdrop of the Goa mafia will showcase Yash in a fresh character, with shooting scheduled to commence in December 2023. Yash actively participated in all stages of the project, from script development to pre-production.
During a recent event in Malaysia, Yash hinted at his upcoming project, saying, “I’m working hard towards something. I won’t say it will be something massive, but it will be a good film and a good product. I will be announcing it very soon. Have a little patience, and trust me. You can surely expect one good kick-ass film.”
Yash fans are not very happy with this development. Geethu Mohandas has directed a few films like Moothon, which have been critic favorites, but fans are not sure if she can handle a mass pan-India star like Yash and deliver a mass blockbuster film.
Yash himself accepting that his next isn’t a massive film has brought down the hopes of his fans to a large extent. They wanted a film that would go beyond KGF and portray him in a role that would take his stardom to the next level. And they feel Geethu Mohandas’ film wouldn’t do justice to their expectations.
It’s too early to jump the gun. Geethu Mohandas is a sensible filmmaker, and she must be aware of the expectations people have from Yash after KGF. Let’s hope she delivers big time with Yash and makes his fans jubilant.
