Generally, when a film succeeds at the pan Indian box office, it is bound to elevate the market of the director and the hero. A similar trajectory is expected in the case of Kannada star Yash, who delivered one of the biggest blockbusters with KGF.
However, things are not looking entire promising for his next film Toxic, which has been introduction for a long time now and finally confirmed August 26 as its release date.
But this sad thing for this film is that almost all the promotional material that has been released till now had opened to rather weak and negative reactions. Even the ladies promo that was released yesterday had extreme objectification and it instantly petrified social media.
This can perhaps be understood if the intention of the makers to create some kind of discussion, either way. But again, there is another detrimental factor here.
If the censorship board does not permit such excessive objectification and exposing scenes in the final cut of the theatrical version, then all of this will go to waste. Without the explicit content, the film might lose its USP, which appears to be what the makers are banking on considering the promotional material they’ve released till now.
After delivering a blockbuster like KGF 2 which collected more than thousand crore at the global box office, Yash is expected to repeat this success at whatever capacity he can.
So for now, the least expectation is that the film will have to do at least ₹300 crore at the box office to be regarded as a credible success. Anything beyond that will obviously be great help to Yash, but considering the prevailing momentum, we have to see where this film would actually end up.
