Union Irrigation Minister, Nitin Gadkari had committed to releasing 2800 Crore for Polavaram National Project in a week’s time. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu who is in Delhi was able to draw the commitment from the Minister.

Gadkari will be in Vijayawada for waterways inauguration and he will also visit Polavaram Project site that day and review the works with the site Engineers and project concessionaire. Polavaram Multi-Purpose Irrigation Project comes with a total capacity of 194 TMC.
The Project will irrigate about Five Lakh Acres over Two Crops Every year. The Project will also generate 960MW of Hydel Power which is the cheapest available power in the market right now. Hence the project is said to be very beneficial for the state and is treated as the ‘Life Line’.
