Aara Mastan, known for his election poll surveys, was called for interrogation for the second time in the phone tapping case. He is among those who allege their phones were tapped during the BRS term.
The SIT officials questioned him for nearly two and a half hours. Speaking to the media after the inquiry, Aara Mastan said he was asked the same set of questions that were posed earlier.
He stated that the questioning was mainly done to cross check the statements given by the main accused Prabhakar Rao. Aara Mastan expressed hope that the investigation would reach a conclusion soon.
Aara Mastan is one of several individuals who claim their phones were tapped. The Telangana Government constituted a Special Investigation Team to probe the phone tapping case in detail.
The SIT has also questioned former Special Investigation Bureau chief Prabhakar Rao in connection with the case. Investigators are revisiting several earlier leads as part of the renewed probe.
Earlier, the case lost momentum as investigating officers failed to establish strong links. However, after the Congress government formed the SIT, the issue has once again come into public focus.
This time, the SIT is expected to move higher up the chain and examine the role of senior Bharat Rashtra Samithi leaders. For now, the case remains under close watch as the investigation continues.
