After a peanut package, doubts over Capital help!

cbn-modi_ap-capitalCentral government had badly shattered all the hopes of Andhra Pradesh by announcing the special development package on Tuesday. To keep it simple, AP government asked for 15600 Crore for the deficit budget and 24000 Crore Special Package to Backward regions but Center gave 500 Crore and 350 Crore respectively. Which means not even 5% is honoured.

On the other side, Andhra Pradesh government had estimated the capital building expense around 1.20 Lakh Crore and asked the Center to release 20000 Crore immediately by the time the construction will begin. The ground breaking ceremony is planned in the second week of June and if it has to happen, Center has to release those funds. In the wake of the shock given by the Center with this Special Development Package, there are doubts all over if the Center will sufficiently fund the capital.

The CM is expected to broach the topic of capital assistance package with Prime Minister Narendra Modi when he visits Delhi on February 8. Chandrababu Naidu wants to bring down the Prime Minister himself to the stone breaking ceremony so as to put the responsibility on him. He will be extending the invitation to the Prime Minister that day itself. On the other side, CRDA managed to pool in 16000 acres for the capital by Wednesday evening.
