Central government is pushing both the Telugu State governments to convene Special Session of Assembly and ratify the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Bill. A majority of the assemblies have to grant their nod for GST Bill within a month from the day parliament clears it. Only then the bill can be forwarded for President’s Assent.

Earlier the session was planned for September last week and so the government hoped that Interim Assembly setup will be ready by then. The government is finding it difficult to relocate the entire assembly infrastructure to the capital city area as the conduct of monsoon session might require a lot of preparation and document work. This advancement made sure that the chance of Velagapudi is missed.
