Amidst Covid Surge, IT Going Back To WFH?

Work-From-Home

The Covid pandemic brought reformative changes in the IT industry as it marked the inception of the work-from-home culture. But with the Covid wave subsiding, the companies started to call the employees back to offices.

However, things are starting to go South again with the resurgence of the Covid wave in the country. In this connection, the leading IT companies, including IT giant Wipro have started to contemplate the imposition of the WFH culture again.

For example, Wipro mandated a hybrid model for its employees recently where they have to work 3 days from the office and 2 days on WFH. But in the wake of Covid cases surge, the company has asked its employees to be cautious and placed utmost emphasis on the safety and wellbeing of the workforce.

Reportedly, Wipro is planning to go back to the WFH culture again if the COVID-19 case surge continues in the country. The management is assessing the situation continually, it seems.

India reported over 4100 cases in India in the last 24 hours and shockingly, AP and Telangana saw the first Covid-related deaths in 2023 with the passing of two individuals in as many states.

If Wipro brings back WFH, we can expect other companies in India to get back to the method of operation before not too long.
