The fate of the Political Parties and Candidates is sealed in the EVMs and the Results will be out only on June 4th. The Election Commission had barred the Television Channels and Survey Agencies from giving out the Exit Poll or Post-Poll Surveys. So, the suspense is on.
Going by the language and body language, TDP and it’s allies are looking confident while YSR Congress looks shaky. Jagan‘s Statement in I-PAC Vijayawada office did not help much.
YSR Congress leaders and cadre are trying to put up a brave face saying that they have women and beneficiaries will help them steer to safety. The discussion is mainly about the women voters.
YSR Congress feels Jagan‘s Akka Chellemmala Sentiment and money into their accounts are going to be the gamechanger of this election. In every constituency of Andhra Pradesh, the women voters are higher than men. So, the edge will save them.
On the other hand, Psephologists are not optimistic about women voters voting enmasse for YSR Congress.
Welfare Schemes can not be the single criterion for women voters. Law and Order issues will also play a crucial role. For women of lower strata, their men ruining all money for booze and spoiling their healths on the cheap brands will be major factors.
For Middle-class women, unemployment is a big problem. Youth in Andhra Pradesh are without jobs in Jagan‘s rule. No women will be happy when her son is in the house without a job. The wives of workers in construction field are also upset due to the stagnancy in that sector due to unavailability of sand.
And there is rampant availability of drugs in many pockets of Andhra Pradesh. The women of above middle-class and rich sections obviously are not beneficiaries of welfare schemes and they are more likely to vote for TDP+ with progressive ideas.
So, Psephologists are of the opinion that there can not be an en masse voting of women to YSR Congress.
Meanwhile, the supporters of the alliance feel even in worst case scenario, TDP+ will have an edge over YSR Congress even though the voting is 45-55 or 40-60.
