Andhra Pradesh may be the first state in the country that is running towards a shortage of the COVID-19 vaccine. Reports are coming in that Two districts of the state – Nellore and West Godavari have run out of the vaccine doses already.
The state has asked the Government of India for One Crore doses and is awaiting a response. Presently, the state has 3.7 lakh doses. The consumption per day is 1.3 lakh doses which means the entire state may run out of vaccine by Thursday.
AP government sources say that the Government of India has informed them that the supply can not be resumed until April 15th which means the vaccination drive may have to be stopped for around a week with an impending COVID second wave.
The daily cases count has gone around 2,000 per day in Andhra Pradesh and is steadily increasing.
