CM Chandrababu announced a true down after the true up by the YSRCP government. That move had placed an extra burden on common people. The new decision brought major relief to citizens across Andhra Pradesh.
Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar later said more reductions are on the way. He confirmed that 13 paise has already been reduced under the true down. He added that power tariffs will continue to come down.
The minister said Rs 1.19 will be reduced over the next three years. He stated that the final goal is to bring the cost to Rs 4 per unit. This would be a big drop from the present rates.
CM Chandrababu said the target is to reduce the price from Rs 5.19 to Rs 4 per unit. To support this move the state government will bear Rs 4498 crore. This covers pending power dues due to the 13 paise cut.
The government has also promised there will be no power hike in this financial year. This assurance is meant to give long term stability to consumers. The focus is on keeping power affordable for all households.
