Opposition Leader YS Jagan Mohan Reddy sat with his available MPs the other day ahead of the crucial Budget session of Parliament. Jagan had asked them to effectively voice about the Special Status in the session. Jagan already announced that his MPs will resign for Special Status if it is not announced in this session.

But then there is a divided opinion about the resignations among the MPs. Except for a couple of them close to Jagan, remaining are divided about the resignations. “Is the sentiment so strong to win the by-elections? What if we lose elections? Will Resignations bring Special Status?” are the questions in their mind.
Resignations will only be effective in case all the MPs do. If some MPs do not resign and go against the party’s decision, it will bring new problems to the opposition party. On the other side, protests in Parliament will mean irking Prime Minister Narendra Modi ahead of the crucial budget which may also have implications on Jagan’s cases.
So, Special Status is a dangerous game for YSR Congress. But then Jagan has pinned all his hopes on the Special Status issue to make a comeback and impress people somehow. Jagan has to play his cards very carefully as it is the season of Jump Jilanis.
