Police in Anakapalli and Nathavaram arrested a ganja trafficking gang. Authorities seized 74 kilos of ganja along with a car and two two wheelers. Police said the seized contraband is valued at around Rs 33 lakh.
One of the arrested members is Gadi Renuka from Madugulapeta village in Santakaviti mandal of Vijayanagaram district. After completing her BTech and working at a software company, she quit her job and joined the gang.
The gang also included a member from Tamil Nadu and two other women named Lalitha Kumari and Manikumari. Police are investigating the source of the ganja and identifying those to whom it was being supplied.
With New Year celebrations approaching, the ganja seizure has drawn attention across Andhra Pradesh. The case has also sparked concern in Telugu states after a woman Techie was earlier arrested in Telangana for drug peddling.
