Vijayawada was severely hit by the incessant rainfall last week. Budameru Rivulet suffered breaches resulting in the overflowing of water in nearby areas.
The government of Andhra Pradesh is relentlessly working towards providing relief activities in flood-affected areas. Meanwhile, the Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister, Dr P Narayana, Narayana reviewed the situation near Budameru with other officials.

Speaking to the media, he said that the state government is contemplating building a retaining wall on Budameru to protect residential areas around the Rivulet from future floods.
Narayana mentioned that CM Chandrababu Naidu had already instructed the Water Resources Department to increase the height of Budameru bunds to prevent additional flooding.

Narayana, along with MSME minister Kondapalli Srinivas, visited the flood-hit areas in the city on Sunday. The minister assured the locals that full support would be given from their end to ensure the residents fully recovered from the situation.
“There is no chance of flooding into the city once again. The arrest of Budameru breaches stopped flood flow into the city, and the increase of the bund height will completely prevent floods in the city,” said Narayana.
