AP Deposits ₹1 Lakh Each to 333 Vijayawada Hajj Pilgrims

AP Hajj assistance for pilgrims

The Andhra Pradesh government has fulfilled a major welfare commitment by initiating direct cash transfers to minority pilgrims returning from their holy journey.

Fulfilling a core election promise by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, the administration deposited ₹1 lakh each into the accounts of 333 verified Hajj pilgrims who traveled via the Vijayawada embarkation point.

This initiative was designed to offset the significant travel costs associated with localized state transit corridors. Under the supervision of Minority Welfare Minister N.M.D. Farooq, the state utilized its secure Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) network to send the relief funding directly to beneficiaries’ Aadhaar-linked bank accounts.

By bypassing administrative layers and routing funds immediately upon the pilgrims’ return, the state has established a new standard for transparent execution. Beneficiaries have already confirmed the rapid receipt of funds via phone, marking a successful implementation of the program.
