Kodur MLA Arava Sreedhar has approached the Andhra Pradesh High Court by filing a quash petition. He has sought dismissal of the sexual harassment case filed against him. The petition was taken up for consideration by the Court.
The High Court accepted the petition and ordered issuance of notices. It also directed authorities to seek explanations in the matter. Police were asked to proceed in accordance with BNS 35 (3).
Under this provision, Arava Sreedhar cannot be arrested unless the police officer submits a written explanation stating reasons for arrest. If an arrest takes place, he has the right to question it legally. This directive offers interim protection.
The development comes as significant relief for Arava Sreedhar. The Jana Sena party had already formed a three-member committee to examine the issue. The internal review process is ongoing.
Arava Sreedhar has appealed to the media not to link his party name with the case. He has repeatedly stated that the allegations are baseless. He insists this approach should continue until he is proven guilty.
People across Andhra Pradesh are closely tracking the case. This is mainly due to repeated statements from the party leadership on strict disciplinary action. Meanwhile, netizens remain divided as the Court proceedings continue.
