Mohd Azharuddin has officially been inducted into the state Cabinet despite BJP objections. The brief swearing-in ceremony took place at Raj Bhavan in the presence of Governor Jishnudev Varma and lasted for about nine minutes.
Congress supporters and minority leaders celebrated his induction. Although there is no official announcement yet, reports suggest he may be given the minority affairs portfolio.
Azharuddin will begin campaigning with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy from Friday evening. He is expected to play a key role in reaching minority voters in Jubilee Hills and upcoming local body elections.
Meanwhile, Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy remains on standby despite rumours about his induction. Speculation grew on Thursday that he might quit Congress and join another party.
However, Rajagopal Reddy clarified that he will stay in the Congress as a senior leader. He urged party members to stop spreading false rumours and maintained that he holds no plans to switch sides at the moment.
