Apart from politics, YSR Congress Party’s chief, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, is also involved in various businesses. He owns stakes in Sakshi newspaper, Sakshi news channel, and Bharati Cement.
Jagan is one of the partners of Bharati Cement, which is currently facing protests from its employees in Andhra Pradesh.
Getting into the details, employees of Bharati Cement staged a protest on Thursday, at the company premises, located in the Nallimgayepalle village of YSR Kadapa district’s Kamalapuram Mandal.
They alleged that the company failed to fulfil past promises made to its employees. They demanded an annual increment of Rs. 10,000 for five years for employees who had lost their lands for the establishment of the industry.
The protesters also demanded repayment of Rs. 2 lakhs per acre, with interest, which was taken from employees in 2010 with the promise of providing them jobs.
Additionally, they asked for the promotion of employees every three years for those who lost their lands.
They alleged that the company’s management failed to keep the promise of regularizing the jobs of Degree holders every three years and ITI holders every five years. The employees also demanded an increase in the retirement age to 62 years.
It is surprising how the employees of the Chief Minister’s own company had to resort to protest for their rightful demands.
